Blue Tees Ringer

- Big Features in a Tiny Footprint

By David Theoret

If you're looking for a handheld GPS unit that delivers a lot more than just yardage, consider The Ringer from Blue Tees Golf. It's a feature-packed GPS device suitable for golfers at any level and has been endorsed by well-known instructor Sean Foley, one of several who have worked with Tiger Woods over the years.

The Ringer comes pre-loaded with more than 40,000 courses and has a bright, high-quality 2.5" touchscreen, a textured backside for sure handling, and a strong built-in magnet that allows you to attach it to the cart with confidence. It has 10 hours of battery life and is small enough to be kept in your pocket the entire round. The Ringer can be used as a "remote" with Blue Tees' Player+ to adjust the volume, skip songs, etc.

Blue Tees Ringer GPS unit has lots of features packed into its tiny body. Like all GPS units it gives you the basic front, middle, and back yardages, but it can also be instrumental in helping you avoid hazards by giving you distances to hazards and features of the hole such as doglegs. With a quick swipe from the GPS Distances screen, you can get to the Dynamic Hazards screen and distances of up to four hazards on each hole. It's an easy-to-use feature that uses four icons for bunkers, water, creeks, and end the of the fairway. An arrow indicates whether your hazard is on the left or right, the distance to the hazard, or the carry distance needed to cover the hazard.

Let's be honest, the reason you bought a GPS unit was to track distances, which is particularly helpful on approach shots. The problem is. Most GPS screens show a flag plopped in the middle of the green regardless of its actual location. Being able to move the pin around on the screen is a feature that is usually relegated to higher-priced GPS units. Until now. Blue Tees' Dynamic Green View lets you do just that; set the hole location on the Ringer's screen to get more accurate distances.

If you like to keep score digitally, a single swipe will take you to the digital scorecard and stat tracker. The scorecard screen will ask you to enter your score as well as the number of putts. The scorecard does not default to par so if you took a snowman, you'll have to hit "+" eight times, which may be cruel and lead to cramping. In the event you like to keep advanced stats, (i.e. where you hit your tee shot and where your approach shot went) you can do that on the next screen.

Want to know how far you hit that last shot? Simply swipe over to the Ringer's Diving Distance screen and hit "start" from where you hit your shot; when you get to your ball hit "track" and the Ringer will keep a record of the distance of all the shots tracked. After your round, you can sync the Ringer to the Blue Tees app and view your scorecard, stats, and history. This can be useful for future rounds to help your decision-making/club selection or to just have proof when bragging to friends and co-workers!

You may not use all the features that the Ringer has to offer but they're there if you ever need them. If you want more analytics consider a Ringer Premium subscription which delivers advanced analytics, unlimited round storage, and premium access to Blue Tees' mobile app. For more information on the Blue Tees Ringer GPS or to order it at an amazingly reduced price, visit www.blueteesgolf.com.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
